Partner in Business at Birmingham Metropolitan Enterprise Academy (affiliated to Career Academies UK)

Career Academy students follow a rigorous 2 year programme equivalent to 3 A-levels or equivalent national qualifications, enabling students to progress to higher education. Within the Career Academy framework, the content of the programme is decide locally. An additional 'employability' component also forms part of the students' programme of study. The students benefit from have a Partner in Business, Guru Lectures and Internships with local businesses. The Met Academy currently has 34 students who are in full-time education. The Met Academy's aim is to bring each of these students out of the Birmingham class room and into the Birmingham board room.

Opportunity

A Partner in Business (each one for each student) is someone from the local business community who can give up their time (approximately an hour a month) to really help each Academy student get the very best start in their career. The role is to provide one to one support with coursework and life skills. Partners in Business range from recent graduates to managing directors, in both public and private sectors. They act as role models, critical friends and advisors. Training is provided.
