Opportunities

Local Advisory Board Member: Each centre running a Career Academy has a Local Advisory Board made up of representatives from the school/college, local business supporters and stakeholders. The meetings are held four times a year either as breakfast or twilight sessions and are run to help the school to provide the business links needed to make the programme successful. Board members are asked to contribute by involving their networks, suggesting ideas and offering advice and guidance from a business perspective.

Guru Lecture: Individuals from the working world can help to bring the curriculum alive for students by visiting a school/college and supplementing the teaching by providing an insight into the business world and their particular area of expertise. This may be a career related talk or provide insight into a specific unit of study e.g. HR practices, financial planning techniques, role of auditors / lawyers in business etc. Each Career Academy produces a timetable showing the areas of study and, via the local advisory board, seeks people to visit to enhance the delivery of the programme.
